How to Sign Potty
To do the baby sign for potty, hold your hand in a fist with your thumb between your pointer and middle fingers. With the palm of your fist in front of you and facing out, gently shake your hand side to side.
Remember It
Remembering the Baby Sign for Potty
To remember the baby sign for potty, think of Toilet starting with “T,” which is the letter you are making with your hand. Also, think of a small child shaking because s/he really has to go!
Teach It
Teaching your Baby to Sign Potty
To teach your baby to sign potty, always do the sign while verbally saying the word in a sentence.
Do you need to go potty? Take your baby to the potty.
Please sit on your potty. Help your baby on the potty.
Great job going potty!!!
Try to be consistent, so your baby will make the association between the sign and potty. By using the sign in a sentence, your baby is also exposed to verbal language and more vocabulary. Awesome!
Use It
Your Baby Signing Potty
Here are a couple ways your baby can use the baby sign for potty.
She can ask to go potty.
He can better understand that you want him to use the potty.
She can tell you she threw something in the potty.
He can tell you that he went to the potty!
