No Lazy Saturdays
This morning, I wanted to have a lazy Saturday. Nothing sounded better than staying in my warm pajamas, drinking some hot chocolate (by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf), and reading a book. But I haven’t had very many lazy Saturdays since I’ve been married to Hector. It’s clean the house, and then out the door! So this morning, we packed up Darian with Mrs. Caterpillar, and we were off to a flea-market at the Olympia Stadium in Munich. It wasn’t so cold that we had to wear gloves, but thinking of visiting California next week really warmed me up inside.
I absolutely love riding the S-Bahn with Darian. On Sundays, we use the car, and if he hates that his diaper is wet or wants to play, he has to stay in his cars eat for the 20 minute ride home from church. I’m happy there is an unlimited speed area on the way there… With the train or subway, it’s so easy to take care of him. We pull out Mr. Froggy, his changing mat, and give him a fresh diaper or walk down the train aisle with him. I even fed him on the way to the Olympia Stadium. Very efficient time usage, and everyone’s happy!
We met up with Jamie Danger Morgan at the flea-market. Unfortunately, we didn’t think to give her directions, and she was lost for a while because we told her to take a less common (but faster) way to get to the Olympia Stadium. Sorry, Jamie! But she’s a smart girl, so she made it. It’s too bad her cell phone still doesn’t work… (going on 6 months?)
The Olympia Flea-market is pretty cool. It’s kind of like a garage sale with really cool German antiques. For example, there was a working coo-coo clock for 35 euros and amazing Biersteins for 2 euors each. It’s not too hard to bargain with the German’s (when you’re speaking German).
Me: How much does this cost?
Seller: 5 euros.
Me: Oh..
Seller: 4 euros for you.
Me: 3 euros?
Seller: Okay.
Sometimes I feel bad for talking down prices. 1 for 7 euros, but 2 for 10…
We found a lot of cool Bierstein’s and books at the flea-market. It was a very successful visit. Jamie even found a really cool FC-Bayern shirt. Hector bought a wurst, and I ate some delicious french fries. Darian slept in his carrier the whole time. He didn’t want anything to do with his stroller after the S-Bahn ride.
We walked through the Olympia Stadium to BMW World where Darian went on his first motorcycle. I love BMW World. You don’t have to pay for the bathrooms, they have a nice changing table, there are nice couches to relax on, and you get to check out the cars and motorcycles.
That night, we visited the Staiger Family, so they could meet Darian. (Jamie is working as the Au-Pair now, and I use to baby sit their kids.) Lennart, the little boy, loved seeing Darian for 30 seconds. Julia, the little girl, never wanted to stop holding him. Utz, the husband, gave me a weird look when I swaddled Darian. I explained that it helped Darian sleep. Later, he brought it up with Jamie and his wife. He said that it looked like a punishment. His wife was a little shocked and told him that she did that with their two kids–one is still in preschool. Utz probably should have said that he remembered to cover… Oh, Utz.
We got home really late at night. I was so exhausted, and I still needed to finish preparing my sunday school lesson (of course) and finish writing thank you cards. Darian went right to sleep after getting home. Thanks, Darian. I didn’t really finish either though, but I’m happy that I didn’t have a lazy Saturday. (But I sure would like one!)
