Rainy Days

Living in Germany for two and a half years can really change a California girl’s view of rainy days. It rains about 50% of the days. So nothing changes when it rains–except everyone gets out their umbrellas. I guess I got use to it.

It’s the first time it’s rained since we moved back to LA, so I just realized that I didn’t have an umbrella any more. We stopped by a pharmacy/convenient store, and I picked one up. The lady checking me out was very confused. She asked if I’d be walking outside in the rain. (I was buying an umbrella. What did she mean?) I told her that’d I’d be getting in and out of the car going places. No reaction.

For this rainy day, I wanted to get some hot food for lunch, go to the baby gym, and stop by a coffee shop for a warm, tasty hot chocolate. Ohhhh, rainy days. Darian fell asleep in the car, so I thought it would be convenient to get hot chocolate and a choco croissant while he slept in his stroller at the coffee shop. On the way to the cafe, the streets were empty and so were the parking spaces. The rain had turned this place into a ghost town. I had forgotten that rainy days were different and for some uninviting. I was happy to have less crowds! And I did. It was awesome. It was a fantastic rainy day, and we even met up with some friends. I’m a rainy day fan.
