Trouble Shooting
My Baby is doing the SAME sign for EVERYTHING
This is normal when babies start. Reinforce what your baby is signing by offering them what they are signing. If they want something else, show them that sign, so your baby can catch on.
My Baby STOPPED Signing
If your baby is focusing on learning a gross motor skill, keep on signing! Your baby will start signing again once that skill is mastered. In no time at all!
My Baby WON’T Sign
Choose signs that will help your baby or are interesting to your baby. Be consistent, have fun, and trust. Sometimes it just takes more time than you intended. You can also sign on your baby!
FAQ
Will my Baby Not Learn How to Talk?
When you sign to your baby, you always do the sign while using the word in a sentence that way your baby is exposed to more vocabulary. Moms who sign find more opportunities to talk to their babies.
When Should I Start signing?
You should start signing whenever you get the idea to start. It’s never too early nor too late. You can start right away as you learn your babies interests and needs. If your baby is now a toddler and still not talking, this is also a great time to start signing. Don’t ever feel like it’s too late!
How long will It Take my Baby to Sign?
It depends on the sign. If it’s something very important to your baby, your baby can start signing around 2 months old. Many babies start picking up a lot of signs at 11-14 months. Look for approximations. Your baby may already be signing. If not, you’re both doing great! Keep having fun and wait to be filled with joy when it happens.
